Launch Of Telehealth Services Brings Providers Virtually Anywhere

Patients Can Address Health Concerns From Home
MSU Health Care is excited to announce the launch of Telehealth services, allowing our patients to communicate with their providers from the comfort of their own home. Starting Friday, March 27, 2020, select MSU clinics will begin offering Telehealth services. For a full list of clinics, visit our Telehealth page.
In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, MSU Health Care is encouraging current patients to consider a Telehealth appointment for their next visit. The CDC recommends practicing social distancing and limiting exposure to lower your risk of contracting the virus, but this doesn't mean you can’t speak with your provider about your health concerns.
"At MSU Health Care clinics, our goals are to protect our patients and provide high-quality care, said Dr. Andrew Zwyghuizen, Chief Medical Information Officer. “We know social isolation is key to limiting the spread of COVID-19, so how can we stay connected with our patients? Telehealth is the answer. Our amazing team has been able to organize and train our clinics to be able to perform many of their visits virtually, providing a means to see and hear from our patients, while keeping them safely at home. Through Telehealth, we can stay connected, even in isolation."
With a virtual visit, current patients can keep their already schedule appointments. This service is currently unavailable for new patients in their first-time visit.
“The arrival of COVID-19 has moved healthcare into unprecedented times,” said Dr. Nathan Fitton, Associate Chief Medical Information Officer. “All health care facilities, both inpatient and outpatient, have had to adapt their care management. This is an opportunity for any patient to use both audio and video to interact with their provider from the safety and comfort of their home. Our goal is to make sure we have the options available for our patients to get the care they need during this crisis. This launch is a great example of "Spartans Will" to continue to provide world class care in such extraordinary times.
In order to use Telehealth, you will need a smartphone, computer or tablet with a camera or webcam, speakers and a microphone. Patients with medical conditions such as a cough, rash, sore throat, eye infection, and routine follow-up for medication refills are all examples of visits that are easy to conduct through Telehealth. Our schedulers are able to verify if your visit is eligible for a virtual visit.
